Its Okay To Want People To Like You

Connection is KEY. I believe its very natural and healthy to want to connect with others and for it to FEEL good.

However if we are changing ourselves or our beliefs to make people like us, this is when it’s not okay. Not only will this send a message to ourselves that we are not enough to just be ourselves, or there is something we need to hide, it will also take us away from our own self-love and acceptance. Which I believe is one of the keys to our happiness.

I believe being ourselves in all situations is very important, it’s a huge act of self-love. By allowing ourselves to share our TRUE self is one of the most empowering things we can do.

Society has taught us that we must ‘fit in’ to be liked.. we must be the ‘same’ so when we start to step out of our closet with our full sparkly unique selves on show, it will make you feel out of your comfort zone. But it is so worth it!

The great thing is, when you start to make those steps, letting your unique self out (the person you were born as)  you WILL attract your ‘tribe’ you will attract into your life the people who totally ‘get’ you, that you feel totally safe with, the ones that you can open up to, let your light and dark side be seen, your vulnerabilities, your whole self. The ones that make you feel good to be YOU.

These are the connections you are craving – true, real connections.

This is where the magic starts to happen. Where you feel lit up from being around people, you feel energised, inspired, motivated and your love for yourself doubles just by being around them.

This is the magic that comes from being our TRUE SELF.

The more we change ourselves to fit in, the more we actually take ourselves further away from what we wanted and desired in the first place.

So – it’s not that we just want people to like us… It’s that we want people to SEE us, for who we truly are, and love us, accept us, and make us feel at HOME.

I know that on my own journey to discover my truth and letting myself be SEEN more and more, that stepping out of that comfort zone, out of the shadows and sharing my heart and soul is the best thing I ever did.

Letting yourself be seen is one of biggest acts of self-love you can do for yourself.

I want to share with you some tips on finding your tribe and being totally and uniquely YOU:

– Start to get clear on your own truth. Your desires. Your dreams. Who you are.

– Singing and dancing is a great way to tap into your throat chakra, helping you to be okay at expressing yourself. Speaking your truth in a loving way and standing up for what you believe in.

– Ask yourself what do you love to do? hobbies.. spare time etc.. ? Find some groups on-line and go and connect with like-minded souls. (Ignite Your Spark Tribe)

– Whats your style. I love fashion. I think it’s a great way to express ourselves. Go through your wardrobe and only keep the clothes that make you feel great!

– Start a blog, or write, paint, take photos, express yourself creatively that feels good to you and share it with the world.

– Follow your joy, all the things that make you happy, you will naturally find the people you are meant to, as we attract into our lives by the good vibrations we give out.

– Look into your eyes every morning in the mirror and say ” I Love You’ . When we love ourselves we can not help but be ourselves and find our tribe effortlessly.

Using Crystals For Healing + Wellbeing

.Crystals 101.

I love crystals. I have a growing collection and if you ever come to my house.. you’ll find crystals in every room. I love the energy they bring and the way they work to balance and uplift the energy around you – by wearing them as jewellery, stashed in your bra.. or placed around your work space and living space.  I also use them in my reiki healing sessions with my clients too, as they are great at balancing the energy centres of the body (chakras).

So how do crystals work?

Crystals come from the earth, and they all give off energy. Each crystal is unique. They are also used in things like – radios, clocks, traffic lights and even space shuttles for the ability they have at giving off electrical impulses and being energy conductors.  Crystals generate, store, regulate, transmit and transform energy.

They are mainly formed from silicon and oxygen. When silicon and oxygen combine they form silicon dioxide – which is also know as quartz. The other elements that are present during the process are what create the many different varieties of crystals out there!

Most people are drawn to crystals for the beauty they bring us, and we will also be drawn to certain crystals for the energy they give off. Crystals can work to bring the body, emotions, mind and spirit into balance and harmony. A great way to support ourselves and assist any healing that is needed.

Crystals work at raising our own energy – raising our vibration! When you raise your vibration the world around you starts to change to match that vibration. They also help you tap into wisdom, self healing and your intuition.

 

How to use crystals:

  • Wear crystals, as a pendant, bracelet, earrings or rings.
  • Carry crystals in your pocket, bag or even in your bra if you don’t have any pockets!
  • Place crystals on your body, whilst laying down.
  • Placing crystals in your house – bringing positive, uplifting energy into each room
  • Place crystals under your pillow.
  • Put a crystal into your bath water, and relax.
  • Meditating with crystals .

 

How to choose a crystal:

I believe that you will be drawn to the right crystal, you will know which one is for you. A good way of checking is to hold a crystal and if you don’t want to let go of it.. the crystal is the one for you, as your body is telling you it needs the energy and frequency the crystal is giving out.

So using your intuition is aways the best way I believe.

The Soul Spark Challenge

IGNITE YOUR SOUL SPARK

I’ve started a little challenge over on The Ignite Your Spark Tribe and on Instagram  which starts Monday 1st June.

– What it involves is writing a list of all of the things that TRULY LIGHTS you up –  the things that make your soul HAPPY dance.

– Once you have your list – (here is mine below as an example) you can use the hashtag #mysoulsparklist so we can connect as a group and then on Monday we start to do one thing of our soul spark list a day!

– Then post a photo each day of one of the things on your list , on Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #thesoulsparkchallenge sharing it and posting it is a great way for us to stay committed to honouring our soul desires every day. Its a great way to build this life changing habit into your daily life.

I know that once we truly honour our soul happiness everyday our life will reflect this. We can not receive what we do not give to ourselves.

Happiness Comes From Your Roots

The importance of grounding

I’ve been spending the last few weeks very focused on grounding myself and as I have I’ve been noticing really positive changes I wanted to share with you!

Grounding the body is so valuable to our health and happiness. Its becoming more and more apparent that in this fast, busy paced modern age, grounding is becoming a necessity for us to maintain balance in our lives.

Most of us spend a lot of time in our heads, planning our futures, remembering our past, and focusing on our to do lists and everything we need to get done that day.

Our energy is all up around our head, in our mind. Too much of this can lead us to feeling stressed, anxious, depressed and disconnected from life and ourselves.

If you feel like this I can highly recommend getting focused on grounding your energy into your body. For me this is something I have had to focus on and still do to keep myself balanced.

I’m in my head a lot – also known as a ‘dreamer’ ‘analyser’ ‘alchemist’ ‘healer’ and ‘creative’. Do you relate?

So what I do to keep this balanced is I make sure I add in grounding practices each day.

The more I focus on this, the more awesome and amazing I feel.

Grounding brings our energy back into our body, brings us out of our head and into our bodies, feeling rooted and centred.

That balanced feeling you want – yep comes from getting grounded.

Getting grounded brings us back into the present moment, so it helps calm our thoughts, and stops them from running away into the future or past, as this usually is when we become stressed, worried and fearful. Being present is where we experience peace.

So grounding ourself can also be seen as being present, living life, living in the moment.

When we are grounded in our root chakra, we will experience feeling safe in the world, in our life, we will experience trust and flow, our foundation will feel firm which will make you feel more confident. You will fee secure in your life, finances, home life, relationships. It’s that feeling of safety, that everything is okay, we are safe. I believe this is the chakra we really need to focus on balancing before we move up our bodies into creativity, love, expression, intuition, they are all built on the root chakra.

So here are a few little tips to getting grounded and balancing the root chakra:

– Going for a walk is very grounding, anything where we are using our legs will ground us.

– Any form of exercise that focus on strengthening the legs, our roots!

– Moving your body, going for a run.

– Doing yoga, especially postures that focus on strong roots, (legs + balance)

– Getting outside in nature, especially around trees is really grounding too.

– Gardening is a great way to feel grounded, as you are touch and connect with the earth.

– Eating root vegetables – carrots, sweet potato, beetroot + warming foods.

– Focusing on our breath and breathing deeply is very grounding, and brings us back into our bodies. It’s also very calming for the nervous system.

– Avoiding stimulants is also very helpful at bringing us into balance too, so avoiding coffee, sugar, caffeine, alcohol etc..

All of these things bring us out of doing mode (head space) into being mode ( present in the moment)

I believe this space is the place we can truly connect with our heart space – The place we will experience peace, contentment+ a sense that everything is just fine

When you experience being fully grounded and balanced it can fee like the following:

  • Absence of negative, limiting or fearful thoughts
  • A sense of relaxation and wellbeing
  • A feeling of lightness, light-hearted
  • A feeling of unconditional love and acceptance
  • Centered & totally connected to your self.

The 7 Pillars To Happiness

Balancing The Mind, Body + Soul

In the last couple of month’s I have been really focusing on my daily routine and how I can bring more balance into each moment. I’m sure as you know, life get’s busy, we can get carried away with work and other commitments and then suddenly after a while we find ourselves feeling out of balance – which can result in feeling tired, disconnected, and not so vibrant, wondering what the hell happened?

I know when I find myself in this place that my self-care has usually fallen off my priority list. It happens, we are human. However having the awareness of how important self-care truly is, is always key, and knowing you have the tools to get yourself back into balance again.

‘Balance’ to me means that ALL parts of our WHOLE being are being nurtured and nourished.

The Mind, Body + Soul.

In my own self care practise I have been stepping it up and really getting clear on which parts of myself need more attention for me to FEEL fulfilled for my true health and happiness.

To get clear on what I want, I meditate or do some journalling, which helps me connect within and hear the things that I truly want – not the should’s, or could’s, or what I think others want me to do.
When I’m quiet I ask myself what my true desires and needs are and how I can fulfil these on a daily basis.

This way I can make sure each day is a beautiful day, not just the weekends!

I wanted to share with you a way that is working really well for me, which consists of breaking it down into 7 pillars, covering mind, body and soul balance.

The 7 Pillars:

  • Meditation
  • Focus
  • Creativity
  • Movement/Physical
  • Connection
  • Play/Fun
  • Sleep

I write these 7 on my to do list and tick them off as I do them each day. I’m a virgo, so I love a good list!  These ‘to do’s’  I feel are even more important  than my chores or jobs to do!

Doing these 7 pillars actually make me MUCH more productive in the long run too.

So it is a win win.

Self love has to become our priority, I truly believe that when we feel good, we have more love to give others and the rest of our world flows much easier. Slowing down and stepping back into self care actually helps us get more done.. True story!

When you focus on these 7 pillars you are working on balancing your mind, body & soul daily, and this is such a valuable practise. It really does create healthy habits that will create so much more flow and ease in your life, not to mention more joy and beauty too.

So let’s look into how they can be added into your day:

Meditation: I usually meditate in the morning for 5 – 10 minutes as soon as I wake up. It doesn’t have to be 30 minutes or an hour, any time you take for yourself to sit quietly and just focus on your breath is beneficial. I also meditate some evenings too for 10 minutes, but not every day, usually only when I remember.. I find meditating in the morning is the best way for me, as I know I won’t get distracted or get carried away with other things and resist it later in the day.

Physical: This could be morning yoga, or a gym session, or a daily walk.. anything that gets your body moving. I go for a 30 minute morning walk before I start my working day and I find it so great for connecting me to my body, getting the blood pumping with more oxygen. Walking outside is very peaceful and calming and brings a lovely perspective of life.

Creativity: This can be anything that you enjoy. Such as drawing, painting, writing, music, dancing, anything that feels creative to YOU. To get lost in creativity connects us to our true selves and we can find out what truly brings us joy. Creativity helps us get lost in the moment, and being present is great for connecting us to true happiness. This is a great to do in the evening, maybe instead of watching television. You will feel such a difference in yourself from adding creativity into your daily routine.

Connection: Connecting with our loved ones, family and friends or even having  a conversation with a stranger brings us a sense of belonging. Connection is valuable for soul connection. Phone a friend, or go and meet a friend for a herbal tea. If you work from home, like I do, this one is so valuable for keeping you balanced. Making the effort to do this on a daily basis will bring so much more joy and laughter into your life.

Sleep: I do LOVE a good sleep, and a good sleep is vital for a healthy, happy mind & body!  I’m in bed by 10pm every night if I can, and this means I wake up naturally at 6:30am, with no alarm and can get out of bed easily. It also means I have the energy to do what I want in my day too, and focus on the other 6 pillars too. Sleep really is valuable to our health + happiness. I know for me if I go to bed late, I’m grumpy, groggy and very unproductive, not to mention getting the snack attacks!  Did you know that if you got to bed too late your body releases a hormone which makes you constantly hungry the next day, and nothing seems to be able to satisfy your appetite. Winding down for the night with a bath and a book around 9pm is a good way to start to get ready for a good nights sleep. It is really all about building a habit. Once you’ve been doing it for a week, it becomes routine.

Focus: This can be focusing on something that you are working on, like a blog post ( I’m focusing now ) or doing your accounts, (not that fun for some of us I know) or writing an essay, anything that you need to really focus on and get done. Practising this is actually very beneficial for our mind, plus you will find the more you meditate the easier you find it to focus. This helps us have a feeling of accomplishment, achievement and will help us to be more productive consistently. However this focus isn’t  the focus you may think of – like the pushing, striving, not getting anywhere focus..  like you are pushing and nothing is happening.. no this usually happens when you have neglected the other 6 pillars! THEN focus will seem hard, boring and yes out of balance.

Play: Laughing, letting yourself go, doing something you love, anything that nurtures your inner child and the adult in you too. This is the one most people need to remind themselves to do on a daily basis, we can caught up in the should’s, and sometimes feel guilty to take time to have fun and enjoy ourselves. However we are here to live life and enjoy it, so we must make this part of our day, everyday!

The 7 Pillar Challenge:  

Try writing these in your diary.. or on a post it note, somewhere you will see them daily. Write out what activities you can put under each pillar that would be fun for you and nourish your heart and soul. Mocha Glow – Natural Beauty Scrub

Mocha Glow. The Natural Beauty Scrub

No Nasties. No Chemicals. Good Enough To Eat.

Today I woke up and felt very ungrounded.. you know that scatty feeling, where you feel like your mind is elsewhere, not much focus or clarity.. and you just just know you need some “me time” to add some more balance into your day. My favourite ways are usually a nice bath, face mask, journalling, yoga etc..

Water is so amazing at grounding and cleansing the body, so I decided to make myself a homemade beauty scrub from all the bits in my kitchen cupboards, so I could have a luxurious shower to start my day.

It turned out so well, I had to share it with you.

Ingredients ( okay so I eyeballed this recipe, but I will try and guess the measurements)

– 1 tbsp of organic ground coffee

– 1tbsp of raw cacao powder

– 1 tbsp of coconut sugar

– 1/2 tbsp of sea salt

– A few drops of orange essential oil

– 2 – 3 tbsp of olive oil, almond oil is also great.

Mix it all up in a small bowl. This should be enough for one whole body application.

It smells delicious, it makes your skin so smooth and soft and exfoliates any dead skin cells for fresher brighter skin. You can also use this on your face, just be more gentle with the skin on your face when scrubbing.

(may make a bit of a mess in the shower, so be careful to rinse away the coffee so it doesn’t stain anything…)

Super Moon – New Moon – Black Moon

Time to really step into your amazingness

 

Its that time. Time for another super moon. Meaning energies are high, super powerful and ready and willing for us to tune in and use to create abundance and all that we desire right now!

This super moon holds the energy for a – BIG reset – bold moves -change – saying YES – adventure and a perfect opportunity to drop the old, and whatever we are aware of that is not serving us, holding us back. Do you know what this is for you?

Mine is my perfectionism, I’m so ready to release myself from it!

Its a time to step into our highest selves. Ask yourself what do you want to create in your life? How has the last 6 months been for you? What have you been creating? Are you happy with where you are going?

Its time to consider this. To keep going in the same direction if all is well or start to put out the intention to change course if thats what you know you need. What is it for you?

This super moon will bring with it heightened emotions and sensitivity. A great time to really tune into your intuition and ask these questions to yourself.

This is a time where you are fully supported to let go if you need to, of old childhood pain, hurts from the past, its a powerful time for deep healing of something that you have carried with you for far too long now.

Step into this power and use this super moon energy to come out even more alive and refreshed with your new intentions and desires set for 2015!

You could even create a new 2015 vision board, and update anything that doesn’t feel quite right anymore.. to create an even more sparkly abundant life!

Pinterest is great at creating a vision board of everything you wish to manifest and create in your life.
