Mocha Glow. The Natural Beauty Scrub

No Nasties. No Chemicals. Good Enough To Eat.

Today I woke up and felt very ungrounded.. you know that scatty feeling, where you feel like your mind is elsewhere, not much focus or clarity.. and you just just know you need some “me time” to add some more balance into your day. My favourite ways are usually a nice bath, face mask, journalling, yoga etc..

Water is so amazing at grounding and cleansing the body, so I decided to make myself a homemade beauty scrub from all the bits in my kitchen cupboards, so I could have a luxurious shower to start my day.

It turned out so well, I had to share it with you.

Ingredients ( okay so I eyeballed this recipe, but I will try and guess the measurements)

– 1 tbsp of organic ground coffee

– 1tbsp of raw cacao powder

– 1 tbsp of coconut sugar

– 1/2 tbsp of sea salt

– A few drops of orange essential oil

– 2 – 3 tbsp of olive oil, almond oil is also great.

Mix it all up in a small bowl. This should be enough for one whole body application.

It smells delicious, it makes your skin so smooth and soft and exfoliates any dead skin cells for fresher brighter skin. You can also use this on your face, just be more gentle with the skin on your face when scrubbing.

Quick tip:

(may make a bit of a mess in the shower, so be careful to rinse away the coffee so it doesn’t stain anything…)

Time to really step into your amazingness

 

Its that time. Time for another super moon. Meaning energies are high, super powerful and ready and willing for us to tune in and use to create abundance and all that we desire right now!

This super moon holds the energy for a – BIG reset – bold moves -change – saying YES – adventure and a perfect opportunity to drop the old, and whatever we are aware of that is not serving us, holding us back. Do you know what this is for you?

Mine is my perfectionism, I’m so ready to release myself from it!

Its a time to step into our highest selves. Ask yourself what do you want to create in your life? How has the last 6 months been for you? What have you been creating? Are you happy with where you are going?

Its time to consider this. To keep going in the same direction if all is well or start to put out the intention to change course if thats what you know you need. What is it for you?

This super moon will bring with it heightened emotions and sensitivity. A great time to really tune into your intuition and ask these questions to yourself.

This is a time where you are fully supported to let go if you need to, of old childhood pain, hurts from the past, its a powerful time for deep healing of something that you have carried with you for far too long now.

Step into this power and use this super moon energy to come out even more alive and refreshed with your new intentions and desires set for 2015!

You could even create a new 2015 vision board, and update anything that doesn’t feel quite right anymore.. to create an even more sparkly abundant life!

Pinterest is great at creating a vision board of everything you wish to manifest and create in your life.

Mine is here, however I WILL be updating over this super moon, and also releasing and setting my intentions with my new moon ritual.

The essential guide to health, happiness, parenting + conscious living.

 

I feel really honoured to have the chance to review  my friend’s Anna Rodgers book  (also know as Miss Eco Glam).

Her recent book is called  Toxic World Toxic People. I know it may sound scary, but really it is a book full of information on how to empower yourself and your health.

Being a health coach and doing my own research over the last 12 years I have read a lot!  This being said, I was really impressed with how much information Anna covered in this book.

Some of the contents includes:

Toxins in beauty products, how to read labels and stay safe, creating a non toxic home, non toxic water, toxins in medicines + drugs, the importance of detoxing, the sun + health, nature + health, digestion linked to depression, healthy recipes, your thoughts and your health, vaccinations, children’s love language, safe skin care for children and still so much more!

This covers everything you need to know! I mean EVERYTHING. Anna really has covered it all. I love that it also includes nature and your mind+ thoughts. A real mind, body + soul approach.
I’ve known Anna for about 3 years now, she has always inspired me with her  big passion for sharing and educating people on what is ‘toxic’ in our world and how many hidden toxins there really are all a round us.
I highly recommend this book for parents too. She shares so much valuable information on how to protect your children, your loved ones, your family  from potential toxins. You will be surprised about where these toxins are hidden too. (Not to scare you, but it really is so empowering to be aware of)
I love that it also educates the link between depression, anxiety and healthy digestion. I am passionate about this link also as it was part of my healing journey with depression to heal my mind, gut link.
I’ve named this ‘the bible’ – if you are struggling with your health, depression, auto immune, skin issues, actually any symptom your body has.. you can  empower yourself with this book on which toxins you may be in contact with that are affecting you, and which next step to take.
I believe this really is a life changing book and a must read for all.

Self Love Worksheet

Happy Valentines Day!!

(well actually I’m writing this two days early, so in advance Happy Valentines! )

What’s a better day to send yourself a big dose of self-love than valentines. However I’m thinking that every day is a good day for self love.

Self love talk is sooooo important, for our health, happiness and wellbeing.

We all have to fill ourselves up with love regulalry – even those of us in relationships. I truly believe we can not give out what we first do not give to ourselves.

Self love is one of my favourite ways to create a balanced beautiful life.

Here I will share a few exercises you can try.

What you will need:

  • You
  • Mirror

Stand in front of the mirror, look yourself deep in the eyes, if it feels uncomfortable, persevere, it does get easier I promise. Eye contact with yourself is the first act of loving yourself.

Say “(insert your name here) – I’m proud that you”

So an example if I am doing it:

“Sarah I’m proud of you that you took 10 minutes this morning to meditate.”

Then you move on to – “(insert your name here) I forgive you for”

For example:

“Sarah I forgive you for getting overwhelmed and stressed out this week”

Then lastly – “(insert your name here)I commit to you that.”

Another example:

“Sarah, I commit to you that I will let go of perfectionism and go with the flow from now on”

Try and fit these into your daily routine in the morning before you start your day.

I’m proud of you

– I forgive you for

– I commit to you that

Every day, and see the difference in how much more you feel acceptance for yourself and also how much more gentler you are on yourself.

When we start to treat ourselves like we are our own best friend, things will really start to shift in our lives. The love we have for ours self really does attract and create our lives.

Valentines Healthy Treats

Cherry Chocolate Brownies

Gluten Free + Dairy Free +Processed Sugar Free

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of almonds
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 1 cup of dried cherries
  • 1/3 cup of pitted medjool dates, chopped into small pieces.
  • 1/3 cup of cacao powder
  • 1/3 cup of liquid coconut oil

 

Directions:

  1. Blend the dry almonds with the sea salt into a flour, using a food processor.
  2. Add in the cacao powder and coconut oil & blend again.
  3. Slowly add in the cherries and chopped dates whilst on a slow setting. (this stops the mix from getting stuck, especially if you use a vitamix, this will eventually turn into a sticky dough.)
  4. Using a heart shape cutter or shape of your choice, roll out the dough to 1 inch thick,  using your hand as it will be too sticky for a rolling-pin, and cut out the heart-shaped brownies!

How To Survive Mercury Retrograde

Reflect. Reconnect. Renew

 

With the first 3 week period of mercury retrograde this year about to come to a close, I wanted to share a few things that I have learnt from this mercury retrograde and past ones.  A lot of people can dread mercury retrograde (myself included) as it really can put us in a place where we feel we are not in control, and not being in control brings up fear big time.

However i’ve found you can use the energies of mercury retrograde to your advantage, so you can gain the most from it.

What is mercury retrograde?

It’s all to do with the movements of the planets. The cosmos. The different planetary positioning affects us here on planet earth. When mercury goes retrograde it *looks like it is going backwards in the sky*, and because it is the planet of communication, travel, creativity and truth, all these things can feel like they are going “backwards” too.

*mercury is not actually going backwards, it just looks like it is because of its position between the sun and earth *

 

There are 3 mercury retrograde’s in 2015:

  • January 21st – February 11th
  • May 19th – June 11th
  • September 17th – October 9th

So what to expect when mercury retrograde hits.

Miscommunication.. Arguments. Conversations can get complicated and confusing. Your brain wanting to go on holiday. Computer says no, electrical equipment playing up. Travel delay’s, cancellations, your car not behaving.

However I’ve decided that we can approach mercury retrograde in a much more positive way and gaining a lot of growth, clarity and inspiration from this 3 week period.

It’s a perfect time to reconnect to ourselves, reflect on what we truly want or are creating in our lives, and coming out with a renewed upgraded outlook.

It’s also a great time to complete things you have been putting off, all those projects you have been avoiding. You may also even find people from your past popping up, maybe to complete unfinished business in some way or another. It’s a great time to get in touch with those you haven’t spoken to in agggges!

 

Its a good time to be gentle with yourself, lots of self-love, connect to your heart and soul and mostly to GO WITH THE FLOW. Relax into mercury retrograde and you will find great opportunities and a much more positive experience. Even maybe a time for renewed inspiration and passion to be reignited.

So with all of that lets run over a few of my top tips for a ‘enjoyable’ mercury retrograde:

  1. Pay attention to your communication, the words you use. Speak from the heart.
  2. Don’t take anything personally, practise allowing.
  3. Take time to finish projects, tie up loose ends, connect with old friends (if you want to)
  4. De-clutter your house. Make space for the new.
  5. Welcome in a time of closure, to heal old wounds and relationships.
  6. Take time reflect, revisit your desires and what you want from your future. Create a new vision board.
  7. Back up your computer, be prepared.
  8. Take things slowly, be gentle on yourself, practise daily self-love practises. Revitalise your spirit.
  9. Process what ever comes up, and moving through and forward by allowing and accepting this cleanse of mind, body + spirit.
  10. Be open to the messages from the universe, any paths that arise, new opportunities, be open, curious and take confident steps.
