One of my favourite topics and one of the questions I get asked the most is regarding skin health. How to heal skin conditions and get smooth, glowing healthy skin.
Ive healed my own skin conditions – Acne & Rosacea on my journey, and I wanted to share with you my top 5 ways to get my skin glowing and balanced.
The most obvious one and the easiest, but surprisingly the one that most people are not doing is drinking enough hydrating liquids.
- Lemon water
- Coconut water
- Juicy Fruits & Veg
My favourite ways to stay hydrated is to drink 1-2 pints of filtered water when I first wake up. Followed by my skin drink (number 2 on top tips). I then drink herbal teas and filtered water in a glass bottle through out the day. Aiming for about 2-3 litres, depending on activity, how hot it is and what foods I am eating that day. Foods like cucumber and watermelon are great for the skin too. Think juicy and refreshing, that will show on your skin 🙂
2. Skin Drink:
A great drink that is great for the skin is :
- 1 tsp of msm powder
- 1 tsp of camu camu
- 1 pint of filtered water
- 1 freshly squeezed lemon
Blend these all together and drink. This drink combines great liver cleansing properties, with the lemon and msm. The msm is also high in sulphur which is great for our skin, and helps with hormonal breakouts, smoothing the skin and also hydrating dry skin.
3. Liver Helper’s:
The liver and digestion is the first place to look when dealing with skin conditions. Most of our liver’s are stressed out and over worked with the environment we live in and all the many toxins that surround us. So any way to help the liver out is good by me!
I also notice my skin’s glow & texture look’s extra healthy when I help my liver out, with a cleanse or supplementation.

4. Oil Based Skin Care Products:
It took me a long time to work out what my skin likes. I have fairly sensitive skin that doesn’t like to be messed around with too much. So less is more for me.
My favourite cleanser is either The best skin ever by Living Libations. Which uses the oil cleansing method. Or I like to to use Argan oil as my go to oil. I apply the oil to my face, massage in gently, then apply a hot flannel and steam my face, I repeat this 2-3 times. Leaving my skin to air dry. I don’t do this everyday. Sometimes I just use water.
I sometimes use a moisturiser, I sometimes don’t. In summer I don’t so much.
Fermented foods and a great probiotic are essential for great skin. Skin health is linked to digestive/gut health. You want to get as many of those good guys into you (the good bacteria) to help your digestive system work efficiently and create balance. My favourite probiotics at the moment are:
