Beautiful Beings – Sarah Bullock

Welcome back to beautiful beings!

I am so excited to be able to share with you the wonderful Sarah Bullock.

I met Sarah about 4 years ago, I went to her initially for a kinesiology appointment but it turned into something so much more than that.  The deep soul healing work started, and I loved it. With each healing session with Sarah I got so excited about what layer I would be uncovering next, it was hard work but well worth it. I really love  the many ways we can find our true selves and find soul clarity, through past memories, blocked energies, limiting beliefs, past lives, body work, flower essences, crystals, sage smudging, it really was my door way into what I am so passionate about now.

Over the year I worked with Sarah, I did some massive soul healing, and really started to journey into my true self and following my heart. I am forever grateful for meeting her.

So here I share with you the interview with Sarah

Enjoy

Sarah B

Where do you live in this wonderful world at the moment?

East Sussex playing with the element of water everyday!

What do you do for “work”?

I specialise in Embodied Awakening™ – a transformational program bringing self-awareness to body, mind and soul in a journey back home to self.  You can find out more on www.theembodiedawakening.com.

I also hold Red Tent Circles for girls and women and have recently launched a project in schools in Milton Keynes where we look at body dysmorphia, sexuality, negative and limiting beliefs – I see this developing into a mentorship and rite of passage for girls so they realise their worth and beauty, taking them from being girls to women.

Very few of us, as women went through any form of initiation.  I feel it is really important to share wisdom’s with our younger generations and also to assist the mothers and other women through this themselves, we regularly go through go through rites of passage unprepared, for example, from girls to women, women to mothers, maiden to the crone so many different stages that we, as women have the privilege of experiencing, yet little is honoured. There is much richness to be found in honouring each of these transitions.  I am really passionate about this.

Tell us a little about your beautiful unique self:

There is so much I could share but in a nutshell I am a simple, sensitive girl with a huge heart, I have a great love of animals, dance and my friends and family mean the world to me.  I am a great lover of home and being a double Taurus I like beautiful home comforts.  I can be fierce in my compassion and passion for people to stand in their greatness.    I would love to see the world a healthier, more embodied place, full of human-BEings living sensual, creative lives full joy and dancing in purpose with evolving communities, respectful of others, self and the planet.

What are your unique talents & gifts?

Huge heart. I have an ability to see through people’s nonsense they are telling themselves and assist them to living greater lives whilst encouraging them to be the magnificent beings they are here to be and to live in purpose.  I make a mean raw chocolate cake and awesome scrambled eggs…

What does being healthy mean to you?

Many things mean being healthy to me, however, one of the most powerful things I do to be healthy is I am practise mindfulness in my thoughts and the way I speak to both myself and others.   Really YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK.

Following a healthy balanced lifestyle to me, means a little of what you fancy does you good.  I believe that you should listen to your body and honour what it wants…within reason.. If I am craving something that’ may not be so good for me’ like excess sugar or salt I check in with my feelings and body to see what messages it is REALLY wanting to tell me, which emotions am I ignoring?  I acknowledge these then I feel into what I really want to eat.

Paramount is also keeping the body fluid.  Dance for me is one of the best ways to do this.  It enables me to access myself, my body wisdom, to keep fit and keep my spine mobile.  A mobile spine leads to a mobile and young YOU!.  I am also looking forward to the weather getting a little warmer so I can go swimming in the sea – it is right opposite my house and I look longingly at it daily, wet suit is ready to go!

I also try (not always easy) to limit my time on the internet, spending time with those I love and also quality solo time.  If I don’t know yourself, your body, mind and energy I can easily get lost when around others.

What makes you feel alive?

Nature.  Dance.  Great food and fabulous company.  I also feel grateful everyday for all there is, each moment is a divine gift to feel alive in.

What breakfast gets you off to a flying start?

JUICE!  Green, purple, orange, usually start my day with something freshly juiced and delightful.

What would be your perfect day?

Golly, in an ideal world I think we should make everyday our ‘perfect day’.  So much changes in each moment if we stay present to the NOW then each moment is perfect, we can see the perfections in the ‘imperfections’ and all the beauty constantly around us.  Each moment has a lesson.  Each moment a gift.  Yes, warts and all.  It is with the warts I have had some of my most perfect and beautiful moments I recognise when I look back!

What’s your top 3 foods that make you feel vibrant?

  • Vitamin L in daily doses is a vital ingredient for all..
  • Good quality water
  • Raw chocolate

What’s your favourite nourishing recipe to share with us?

Nourishing in the fact it is one of my favourite indulgent recipes that is gluten and dairy free yet has SO much flavour even children like it!

YUMMY VEGAN CAKE

  • 100g Ground almonds
  • 100g Rice flour
  • 100g Raw Cacao
  • 150mls oil
  • 225mls oat milk
  • 300g dates
  • 1tsp lemon juice
  • 1tspn bicarb
  • maple syrup, to taste

Mix all dry ingredients together, using a food processor. Cook up dates with a little water to form a smooth paste. Mix lemon and bicarb and add to milk, then add oil. Slowly add all other ingredients. Add maple syrup to taste.

Icing ingredients..

  •  Ground cashew nuts
  • Avocado
  • Raw cacao
  • Maple syrup/agave/stevia to taste. Make the icing by sight and best done in a food processor.

Bake at 180 for between 35mins and an hour. Check after 35 mins and don’t expect the knife to come out totally clean, as it’s a dense, rich cake…enjoy!

P.s. It also freezes (without the icing) really well too!

What are your top tips for happiness, health & balance?

  • Stay mindful for self, others, the planet, what you eat, what you think and your actions
  • Practise gratitude daily
  • Love yourself and others
  • Look for the magic in everything and everyone
  • Take the lessons and learn to dance with them
  • Forgive yourself and others

  • Wear colours
  • Eat fresh yummy locally grown/caught food
  • Find adventures regularly, in the smallest things
  • Travel the world and your own back yard

  • Be creative
  • Laugh LOTS
  • Keep learning and sharing
  • Give without expectation
  • Be nice to yourself
  • Wear sexy underwear and your best socks regularly
  • Buy the shoes – life is short
  • Dance and sing as much as you can

Do you have a favourite quote or mantra?

I am enough. I am worthy. I love. I am loved.

What message do you want to share?

Live life. Love. BE yourself and speak your truth always.  Know you are enough, you are worthy and there is always light even in the darkest moments.  If not there is always fabulous raw chocolate!

What is the most influential thing have you learnt on this beautiful journey called life so far?

Influential learnt thing?  To trust myself, my body wisdom – our bodies hold all the answers. Treat yourself as you would treat your beloved.

What I Learnt From My Week Long Binge

IMG_3965

I’m back!

I’ve come out the other side of a week-long binge and wow, I’m kinda glad it happened. Not the emotion I thought I’d be feeling… however I believe everything happens for a reason and we are growing all the time and learning.

So what did I learn and why am I grateful?

It was 6 whole days of me eating a whole lot of junk! I ate everything that I haven’t had in many years! The stuff I don’t usually see as “food”… The foods I see as addictive… The foods I coach people to avoid. I lost all self-control.. My will power and discipline went out the window.

Losing control is bad, right ?

The thing is in this case it wasn’t bad,  I needed to lose that control as the control was holding me back!

The control I had over my food was out of fear. Choices made from fear and not from love are not the same! I had developed an unhealthy relationship with food, and although I was eating and making very healthy food choices I hadn’t realised that the control I had around it had made me feel a few emotions that were not helping me live life to the fullest.

It was from my need to be perfect! I’m sure you can relate. Perfectionism is not healthy!

I was feeling like I had to be perfect all the time. This feeling cam from fear of letting go and it was causing me to feel separation. separation from my friends, family, strangers, my  need for perfectionism was making me lose and fear my humanness.

Humanness is why we are here on this earth, to live, connect and I was running away from that.

Why do we do this?

I was feeling rigid, and my core desire’s were not being experienced fully because of it.

Running after perfectionism was not serving me in any way! It was taking me further and further away from my desire of Connection, Joy and Fun.

I believe that we do this out of fear, fear of loving and accepting ourselves as we are.

Healing the past?

I’ve been on my journey with food since the age of 14. My health journey started at the age of 21, but my relationship with food really  started in my teens when I developed an unhealthy relationship with food.

At the age of 14 I started to use food as a way to control my life. I began my lesson of an eating disorder , anorexia. When things in my life were out of control and I had no way of controlling them I went to food.

It was a combination of self-hatred, inner pain regarding my parents splitting, and also a general feeling of not understanding who I was at that age.

The lesson:

In the middle of my binge I felt guilt and totally lost, I was Sarah the health coach, I shouldn’t be eating this shit. Who am I ? I usually have such great self-control? Why now?

On the flip side I also felt liberated, connected and a whole lot of love for myself.

I had let go, and this helped me feel my complete humanness and let go the perfectionism (which does not exist).

I loved myself in the midst of my “mistake” and “bad choices” it was a feeling of total acceptance, and that acceptance of ourselves is where the true magic is.

I did flip back and forth in these emotions, and each time it was so healing as I was healing some old emotions from when I was the 14-year-old clinging onto the control to feel safe.

Letting go:

I learnt that it was safe to let go, to accept and love yourself in every circumstance and most of all show yourself love and forgiveness. Powerful emotions – Love & Forgiveness.

A reminder:

Yes I knew this is all before and I have been through this in  different ways before, however this time it was a little different and it went a little deeper. We are always healing and growing, it is what we are here to do.

A little bit of moon magic:

I thank the eclipse we had for this. If you are into the planetary alignment this eclipse completed a 18.5 year cycle,. And guess what, yes I was 14 then! The beginning of my anorexia.

The week was full of a F@2k  it attitude. I let it all go. It’s what my soul needed to do. To move to the next level and shed my skin that wasn’t serving me.

Virgo Love:

My virgo, perfectionist, personality type actually let go, let her hair down, and enjoyed every moment of it. Then once it was over, I let it go again,!

I’m back:

I am back at my natural desire to eat healthy foods again, I have no desire for the junk, it’s over, and I learnt a whole lot about myself and why I do what I do.

The best bit is I am desiring my healthy lifestyle not out of fear anymore. I just want to. It resonates with my soul. I don’t have the fear I used to that if I eat the “wrong” foods I would get sick., go back to square one, my skin would break out. (my skin did break out!) however I accepted this, and that is a BIG thing for me.

Relationships deepen with humanness:

My relationship with my girlfriend deepened, I felt more connected, because I had let my barriers down. I embraced my humanness and by letting go of perfectionism I closed the gap of separation with myself and everyone in my life.

I let her see and others see my vulnerable side. This is so powerful. Have you heard that the people who are more comfortable being vulnerable are the happiest??

I am far from perfect, I am a human being experiencing life like every one else. I have tried to escape my humanness for such a long time, It had caused a massive feeling of separation in my life.

In my opinion we are all searching for connection in life and separation is the opposite of this.  I believe this causes us to feel lost in our worlds.

Listen to your souls desire:

My soul desire of fun and play started my binge, and whilst I labeled it wrong initially, it was actually the perfect lesson and I am so grateful for it.

Yes it’s deep! I know.

For me it is massive and for anyone else out there clinging onto self-control and perfectionism, I really hope this speaks to you.

It is scary to let go I know. I rarely do it or should I say did it..

What rules do you set for yourself?

My soul is breathing a sigh of relief at being able to enjoy life and that the rules I set for myself have been burnt and I am ready to create a new reality, one that come from love. Only love for myself. As I learnt to love myself through a time I would have usually been hard on myself for.

My lesson:

  • Make your food choices from love not fear
  • Self love will lead you to the path you need
  • The rules we chain ourselves to will not make you happy. Don’t focus on rules, focus on core desires.
  • Healthy is not just about food.
  • Love & Forgiveness also equal health
  • Perfectionism is the opposite of balance
  • Humanness is a beautiful experience. It’s what we are here to experience. Embrace it.

“I urge you to never give up on your dreams, to always want the best for yourself, to listen out for your inner voice and make yourself a priority”

Why Wild Foods

IMG_3988

I’ve been drawn to wild foods for a while now but have only just recently really started to take more notice and want to incorporate them into my lifestyle.

A couple of days ago I went on an amazing wild food forage walk organised by my friend Robin, she has just started holding regular classes here in Milton Keynes. She is the Culinary Sage!

I was so inspired I wanted to share with you what I learnt and how easy it is to include these amazing foods into your life.

Its Spring here in the uk and it is one of the best times to take advantage of all the amazing wild foods we have at this time of year. Nature is sooo clever, and it is giving us an abundance of foods to really help us cleanse out the old/sluggish/heavy from the winter/colder months.

Wild and local foods are great because

1. They are much fresher than you will ever get in the supermarket.

2. The nutrients and minerals are abundant

3. We are given by nature what our bodies need for the time of year and the season we   are in.

4. Nature provides for us and it’s free!

5. Foraging for our own foods connects us to nature, relaxes our nervous system, you appreciate the food you eat much more too when you’ve picked it yourself.

6. Eating flowers is fun and so colourful. You can make such pretty salads.

The 3 of my favourite wild foods since learning all about them are

  • Nettles
  • Dandelion
  • Cleavers

Firstly these 3  are so easy to find, I can see most of these on any walk I go on. All you have to do is take a plastic bag with you and pick them as you go. Away from a road is better, because of the pollution, and away from where dogs may wee.. is also ideal.

dandelion

1. Dandelions, The Liver loving herb.

Oh how I love my liver loving, such an important over worked organ. It needs a helping hand! Dandelions help increase bile production and liver detox. A good source of potassium, vitamins C & A, and many more minerals.

You can add them straight to your smoothies, or boil up for a fresh herbal tea.

Cleavers

2. Cleavers, The Lymphatic Lover.

Yes these are the plants you may remember secretly sticking to peoples backs and running away 😉 as a kid..

The lymph is key at keeping our blood clean and nourished. Our blood is so important for health, we want to keep it as clean as possible. Cleavers help with lymphatic drainage, and with skin conditions. As the blood and the liver is quite key in skin health, as well as hormones. It’s also a great source of iron. So ladies get your cleaver tea on the boil!

stinging nettle

3. Nettles, Mega Mineral’s.

Very high in minerals, extremely high in iron. Which is a mineral many people are deficient in.  Also high in the minerals calcium, magnesium, silicon, sulphur, copper, chromium, zinc, cobalt, potassium and phosphorus. They also support the liver and the female hormonal system. Great for the kidneys too.

Adding these 3 wild foods into your life I believe will have a great benefit. They are easy to get hold of, and you have fresh, fresh food.

I know that I will be adding them to my smoothies, soups, and making herbal teas with them from now on.

I encourage you to have a go and see how you feel!
