The Importance Of A Morning Routine

A morning routine is something that on my wellness journey has been one of the most important!

If I start my day off right it flows into the rest of the day, with more happy thoughts, positivity and a clear focused sense of self. Everything is just easier ūüôā

Grounded! I feel grounded. Like a  tree with strong roots.

  • I start my day off with 1 – 2 pints of filtered water.
  • A 10 minute meditation

Why I meditate:

  • 30 – 40 minutes of Yoga or some other form of movement that gets my heart pumping and my lymph moving!
  • 20 conscious breaths, making sure I am taking full belly breaths.

I set an intention for the day:

I look for the joy in all moments and will focus on play and fun!

Then on to my breakfast!

  • A Green Juice or a Tonic or a Smoothie…

Apple, Lemon & Ginger Warming Infusion

A super quick easy recipe for you today!

In this cold weather sometimes If I get bored with just water.. or ¬†herbal teas, and it’s nice to have a change, I will make this fruity warming infusion.

Apple, Lemon & Ginger Infusion

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 an apple, cut into ¬†cubes
  • 1/2 lemon juiced
  • 1 inch of ginger cut into cubes.

Put all ingredients into a large mug or teapot, and cover with warm water, leave to infuse for  15 minutes.

Sometimes I like to top it up with more warm water if it cools too much. You could even use this as a base for a drink in summer, add stevia to it for a sweeter drink.

Superfood Face Mask

One of my all time favourite things is natural beauty products. Creating my own from super foods that nourish my skin is so fun too. You can nourish your skin from the inside out of course, but the added benefit of feeding the skin by applying this nutritious face mask is a bonus.

I came up with this mask using ingredients from my cupboards and I am now so addicted. The results it gives me are amazing, plus it smells delicious, and yeah you can eat it if you want… ¬†(my number one rule for my beauty products, if you can eat it, I’ll use it ) I find this moisturise’s¬†, plump’s and leaves my skin with a smooth ¬†even tone.

Perfect for this winter weather.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp of spirulina powder
  • 1 tsp of raw honey
  • 1 tsp of msm powder
  • 1 tsp of camu camu
  • 1 – 2 tsp of filtered water

Mix together into a smooth green paste! Apply to face and leave on for 15-30 minutes. I have left this on for longer as it is very nourishing and I find gentle on my sensitive skin too.

Wash off using a warm flannel for best results.

  • Honey is naturally antibacterial, so it’s great for acne treatment and prevention.
  • Full of antioxidants, it is great for slowing down aging.
  • It is extremely moisturising and soothing, so it helps create a glow.
  • Honey is clarifying because it opens up pores making them easy to unclog.
  • Its antiseptic and antimicrobial properties make it great for healing cuts and burns by killing bacteria and fungus.
  • Raw honey also contains gluconic acid, a mild alpha hydroxy acid that brightens the complexion, evens out skin tone, and lightens scars and age spots.

  • MSM is a nutritional form of sulphur, which is an essential component in the formation of collagen, elastin, cartilage and keratin. It gives flexibility, tone and strength to muscles, bones, joints, internal membranes and especially the skin, hair and nails.
  • Adequate levels of sulphur in the body help to promote a radiant complexion, glowing skin and mineralised hair. Therefore sulphur is often referred to as ‚ÄúThe beauty mineral‚ÄĚ. However, research has found that most people are deficient in sulphur and that deficiency increases with age.
  • Oxygen availability is increased ‚Äď MSM helps to get oxygen into the blood more efficiently.
  • ¬†MSM works particularly well in combination with vitamin-C rich foods
