Beautiful Beings – Rande Moss

rande green juice

Another beautiful being interview, I am so excited to introduce you to Rande! She has inspired me with her amazing recipes for a good few years now. We both seem to be on agreement, the greener the better 😉

Her recipes are always so creative and nourishing. I followed Rande’s 3 month Juice cleanse last year and it was very inspirational. The power of juicing !  She is a true Health Junkie and I love her for it :

Where do you live in this wonderful world at the moment?

Seattle, Washington

What do you do for “work”?

I’m a server at a gorgeous, mostly raw juice bar/vegan restaurant.

Tell us a little about your beautiful unique self:

According to my blog bio:  Twenty-Something. Vegetable-Obsessed Foodie. Yoga Lover. Singer of Showtunes. Introverted Bookworm. Collector of Skin Decor. Seattle Dweller. Detox Nerd. I enjoy eating salads the size of my head and I’m attached at the hip to my juicer and my fiancee (wedding is September 13th!)

What are your unique talents & gifts?

I feel somehow unique in my commitment to health in all aspects. Is juicing a talent? I also sing and sometimes feel good at it.

What does being healthy mean to you?

Fully and blissfully inhabiting my body and feeling like myself.

What makes you feel alive?

Juice feasting. A really good conversation. Connection. Being on stage during a really good performance.

What breakfast gets you off to a flying start?

The greenest green juice you can imagine!

What would be your perfect day?

Waking up with my fiancee and no alarm clock, the two of us going to yoga, getting coffee or veggie juice, the farmers market, a hike and making a gorgeous dinner with all our market goodies. We try to make every Sunday like this.

What are your top 3 foods that make you feel vibrant?

greens, avocados, wheatgrass.

What’s your favourite nourishing recipe to share with us?

Chocolate Coated Wheatgrass Shot

Chocolate Coated Wheagrass Shot

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 bags of chocolate flavored tea (herbal would be preferable but chocolate mate’ is what I had which is slightly caffeinated)
  • 2 cubes of frozen wheatgrass
  • 1 dropperful NuNaturals Cocoa Stevia
  • 1 dropperful NuNaturals Vanilla Stevia
  • AND (the bit that does make it quite decadent):
  • A heaping spoonful of cocoa powder (optional)

Heat the water and steep the tea bags- I put it in the fridge until it’s cooled so that it’s just barely warm enough to melt the wheatgrass. Test with your finger to make sure it’s not too hot. Add remaining ingredients and stir till cocoa is dissolved and wheatgrass is liquified.

Variation: Replace on bag of chocolate tea with a bag of peppermint tea for a peppermint-cocoa blend!

What are your top tips for happiness, health & balance?

Keeping everything clear physically and mentally. For me this looks like clearing out mental clutter with yoga and meditation and clearing out physical clutter with veggie juice, a mostly raw diet, and colon cleansing.

Do you have a favourite quote or mantra?

“Cleanse the heart and the body will follow. Cleanse the body and the heart will follow.” – Natalia Rose

What message do you want to share?

It’s so much easier to be present and connected with yourself if your body is clean and the energy is flowing well. It’s not all about the food *but* the food and physical cleansing stuff can be an important gateway to more spiritual pursuits and/or just generally feeling happier and freer.

What is the most influential thing you have learnt on this beautiful journey called life so far?

That we as humans are naturally joyful and loving and if that’s not our experience, we just have to figure out what (whether it be physical, mental, whatever) is in the way and remove it.

Beautiful Beings – Regan Vincenza

regan

Another Beautiful Being and another fantastic Friday ! I am excited to introduce you to the totally cool Regan Vincenza from Ryker Sear. I met Regan about 2 years ago, at the gym! I am always totally inspired when I meet someone who is just totally doing what they love, and Regan is one of those people. I loved that she was living her dream and working hard at it. Here she is :

Where do you live in this wonderful world at the moment?

I live in the quaint village of Wicken near Milton Keynes.

What do you do for “work”?

Make music! I play guitar and sing in a rock band – check out Ryker Sear! I write songs and perform – some people’s’ worst nightmare, but I love it! I’m also writing songs to pitch to other artists.

Tell us a little about your beautiful unique self:

My name is Regan (yes King Lear, and YES The Exorcist) and I have a slight Peter Pan complex. I spent many years at a girls convent school, but thankfully I managed to get into rock n roll! I’ve loved music all my life. I remember sitting in my dad’s guitar case when I was little, listening to him play Cat Stevens and Jethro Tull, and thought it was great to be able to play songs. I like all kinds of music, rock, instrumental, pop, you name it – just has to be pleasing to my ears. I also collect far too many items, cover my walls in posters of stuff I like, and friends. I’m lucky enough to have grown up in the 90s/early 2000s, so I had access to all the music and pop culture of the past. Plus us Millennium generation kids got so much good stuff. Yeah, you’d better be jealous that we had the Ninja Turtles and The Backstreet Boys. And Discmans. And the golden age of Nickelodeon!

What are your unique talents & gifts?

Hmm, unique talents and gifts is a hard one. Not unique to just me, but I can write a catchy chorus or two! Song writing is my gift I suppose. I really think it’s something you have, or you don’t. I also don’t know anyone else who can perform a Disney film medley with as much enthusiasm as me!!

What does being healthy mean to you?

Being healthy for me isn’t only about choosing the ‘right’ foods to eat and drink. It’s also something that’s in your mind…about what you have in your life and around you. Being positive when thinking, the need for adventure, exploration, having fun, staying away from people who cause you trouble, and maintaining good relationships with people you care about. So…less about being a hippy, but rather happy!

What makes you feel alive?

Singing and dancing to songs that make you feel crazy! A classic rock song, or One Direction’s latest hit….whatever! Riding roller coasters and being in love 🙂 Possibly at the same time.

What breakfast gets you off to a flying start?

An expertly cooked classic English Breakfast, with plum tomatoes! And honestly, a good green juice.

What would be your perfect day?

My dream perfect day would be on CocoaBeach in Florida with some friends. We’d wear 50s swimming costumes, listen to some rock ‘n’ roll, eat ice cream & blackberries, I’d play a gig at House Of Blues, and then go on a post show walk with a charming gentleman. That’s a lot to cram into one day though…right?

I also love Bonfire Night and Christmas Eve. Marshmallows, Mulled Wine, Sparklers!

What are your top 3 foods that make you feel vibrant?

  • Blackberries,
  • Tomatoes,
  • Lemons.

What’s your favourite nourishing recipe to share with us?

I can’t remember what it’s called…but it’s super tasty. Based around aubergines. Depending on how many people it’s for, take your aubergine (or more) and make a few slices, so it ‘fans’ out. Inside the fan gaps, put artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, capers, olives, some fresh garlic, and anchovies (or don’t for total veggies!). You can put a few fresh herbs in too if you like, although these ingredients have a lot of flavour on their own! Then chuck a decent amount of olive oil onto it, and totally cover the dish with tin foil. Bake it in the oven. Been a while since I made it last, but I think about 40 mins should do.

What are your top tips for happiness, health & balance?

You’ve heard it before, but really, do more of what makes you happy! We get busy and forget to have fun and be random. There’s nothing wrong with eating a cheese burger, but don’t forget a fruit salad too! Be kind and polite to people, and always be the bigger person – you’ll get your revenge 😉 Remind yourself and be grateful for what you have. Help someone out who needs it. Life isn’t a race.

Do you have a favourite quote or mantra?

Just be yourself and don’t let anyone make you feel unworthy of something.

What message do you want to share?

Trust YOUR instincts on EVERYTHING. Don’t let someone walk all over you, and stand up for yourself and things you believe in. As long as they are legal!

Brush your teeth for a decent amount of time, love those who love you, and SMILE 😀

What is the most influential thing you have learnt on this beautiful journey called life so far?

Mostly cheesy, overused stuff, which is 100% true. Sometimes it’s hard, but be yourself, trust your instincts, always do the right thing, speak up. Plus the old ”the only thing we have to fear is fear itself”.

Beautiful Beings – Holly Stevens

HOLLY

I’m excited to introduce you to the lovely Holly Steven’s. I knew Holly when I was in my late teen’s, we “hung” in the same circle of friends briefly, and I always remember Holly as being very bubbly, smiley and having a  fantastic positive energy. I always remembered her drawings too, such a talented soul!

Then 10 years later when I started to put living my dream’s into action (creating my own business around health & wellness) I was drawn to Holly and her company Lead Creative. I just knew Holly was perfect for helping me with my design work, and web design. I trusted her fully, and I just had a great feeling, I knew that the universe had brought us together. Plus she was so inspiring to me as she was already following her heart and combining her love for creativity and making a living from it. I know you’ll find her inspiring too!

Where do you live in this wonderful world at the moment?

Christow, a gorgeous little village on the edge on Dartmoor, Devon.

What do you do for “work”?

Graphic design and web design/build. I design all sorts from branding to print collateral. I also illustrate whenever I can, that’s a big love of mine. I work with individuals, charities and corporate organisations locally and overseas. It’s a nicely diverse workload.

Tell us a little about your beautiful unique self:

I’m 30 years young, engaged to a wonderfully talented guy and we produced a hilarious little lady about 15 months ago who we are proud to not only call our daughter but our little buddy.

What are your unique talents & gifts?

I’m lucky enough and extremely grateful to be able to make a living from a creative talent. I’ve got an engineering ‘thing’ from my Dad which would explain why I love the technical aspects of graphic design and have an appreciation for coding!

What does being healthy mean to you?

A lot. It’s the difference between watching your kid play or chasing them around the field until you both fall over. It’s being a brilliant role model. It’s feeling optimal every day, not below-par. It’s making the most of your body and your mind whilst you have it. It’s being able to push yourself if you want to.

What makes you feel alive?

Travel. Although I’ve not done much. Yet!

What breakfast gets you off to a flying start?

A little fry-up with scrambled eggs, grilled lean bacon, tomatoes and spinach.

What would be your perfect day?

A beach trip with my fiancé, our daughter and our families. Good surf, volleyball, bbq and a couple of cheeky beers!

What are your top 3 foods that make you feel vibrant?

Tuna steak, leafy greens and strawberries.

What’s your favourite nourishing recipe to share with us?

Mild curry tagine with potato, mushrooms, chick peas, greens beans, lentils, apricots and raisins. Throw it all in the tagine, add chicken/veg stock and cumin, coriander, curry powder, garam masala. Cook on a low heat for 2-3hrs and enjoy!

What are your top tips for happiness, health & balance?

Smile a lot. RELAX your shoulders! Help people. Don’t worry about trivial things. Live in the now. You are what you think. Eat well and be merry.

Do you have a favourite quote or mantra?

“Love, Humour and Optimism”

What message do you want to share?

Have the guts to make the changes you want in your life. Do it! Nobody else will do it for you.

What is the most influential thing you have learnt on this beautiful journey called life so far?

I read an article online; it was a group of elderly people who were asked what they would have done differently in their lives. It was really touching because most of them would have reflected more, risked more and done things that would have outlasted them. I view this as valuable advice; I want to be in a position when I am elderly to have no regrets (or regrets that were worth pursuing!) and a loving family around me.
